The way I play is heavily influenced by drummers who hit HARD! My favorite drummers (ever since I was a shit-kicking punk in Colorado) are John Bonham, Tommy Lee, Terry Bozzio, Eric Singer, and Tommy Aldridge. Some of the other drummers that inspired me were guys like Kenny Aronoff, Anton Fig, and Eric Carr. I still look up to these guys and Bonzo more now than ever before!

I’ve had the opportunity to share the stage and perform alongside two of my new favorite drummers- Mike Terrana and Marco Minnemann. They are two of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet! I learned A LOT from both of them and they are the ones who currently influence my approach to this thing we call drumming.

When I moved to the Philippines, the most difficult bullet to bite was the one that made me realize that I ain’t the shit. I’ve had to learn to adapt and incorporate. Although I am a basher and a half, I’ve learned that there is a time and a place for everything. I have sessioned and continue to session for A LOT of artists (Asian/regional and Internationally recognized). Lately, one of my biggest drumming influences has been Deen Castronovo. When I first saw him back in the 1990s, I went NUTZ! I was thinking, “WHAT THE F*CK?!?” He’s come a LONG way and he even sings now. That’s one of my frustrations. I know I can sing but it’s not exactly one of the things I do very well (if at all). I’m STILL learning and my style is STILL evolving!

I use DW Drums and Vic Firth Sticks exclusively. Why? They’re the “drummer’s choice” and the “perfect pair!” Need I say more? Thanks to the people who keep the arsenal fully loaded and well-oiled!
